Use of Inadequate Water for Rinsing

Modern washing machines, in order to comply with water savings regulations or otherwise look good in terms of their "green" credentials, try to use less water than older washing machines.

In practice, this means that they often use inadequate water to rinse. This can cause issues for people with allergies. Some people have tracked down older washing machines which rinse properly as they are unable to cope with the inadequate rinsing performed by newer machines.

A tell-tale sign of this syndrome is the "extra rinse" button, which does not appear on older washing machines. Of course, this just repeats the same ineffectual rinse procedure.
