An attempt to make the ownership and use of software contingent on the acceptance of a contract, usually a highly unreasonable one.

No contract or copyright permission is required to make use of software you lawfully own. In the US, this is made clear via 17 USC 117.

EULAs are nonsense that deserve no validity, though judicial findings as to their validity have varied.
