Violation Type Summary
Freesat receivers/BBC-DRM DRM Imposition of DRM

"Freesat" is the consumer-friendly branding trademark for DVB-S satellite digital TV transmissions in the UK.

Since launch, Freesat EPG data has been Huffman compressed using custom Huffman tables which are kept confidential. Access to these tables is necessary to decode the EPG data and is conditional on manufacturers agreeing to implement DRM for broadcasts.

It is unclear whether Freesat devices, like Freeview HD devices, are required to "resist end-user modification" (OSIGNFW), but this is likely.

MythTV supports these compression tables.
