DRM Violation

Use of non-Extreme transceivers now results in bandwidth limitation unless additional fee paid

Status: Current — The violation is standing.

Extreme Networks networking equipment previously rejected third-party transceivers. Although this practice was ceased, a similarly restrictive practice has been resurrected: While third-party transceivers can be used, a "license fee" must be paid within 90 days, or the bandwidth of the port will be reduced to 25%.

This is essentially a DRM scheme.
